TheWalled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA)

A dedicated initiative by the Government of Punjab —oversees the conservation, development and promotion of Lahore’s historicinner-city zone. Under the leadership of Director General Najam‑u‑Saqib, the Authority continues to drive heritage revival, urban infrastructureimprovements and cultural tourism across the area.Since its establishment under the Walled City of LahoreAuthority Act, 2012, WCLA has operated with a dual mandate: to protect Lahore’stangible and intangible heritage, while also enhancing the quality of life forresidents of the walled-city area.

Key Services:

Heritage Conservation & Restoration: WCLA conducts restoration of historic monuments, gates and havelis, researching past construction techniques and facilitating projects that safeguard architectural value.  

Urban Infrastructure & Revitalisation: Beyond monuments, WCLA implements infrastructure schemes (streets, lighting, tourism-friendly enhancements)     that support both residents and visitors in the Walled City.

Tours, Events & Cultural Promotion: With guided tours, night-heritage walks, events and interactive storytelling, WCLA offers experiential     access to the city’s historic heart, helping it thrive as a living     heritage zone.  

Regulation & Planning within the Historic Zone: WCLA holds regulatory authority over zoning, building changes, heritage protection inside the Walled City, to balance preservation with modern use.
